Kanha National Park

Situated in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha National Park is believed to be one of the best places to catch a glimpse of the majestic Bengal tiger due to its lush sal and bamboo forests, grassy meadows and ravines. The fine texture of the soil found in this region is known as Kanhar in the local language, which gave the park its name. Kanha has an area of 940 sq.km and is home to various rare and exotic species of mammals, reptiles and trees. With some 300 avifauna species, this place is also a heaven for bird watchers. The park is also one of the last places in the entire world to  house hard-ground barasingha, also called the southern swamp deer.
