The Real Land Of Tigers

Tadoba - Pench - Kanha

If you were asked to pick the centre of India on the map, there are high chances that you would pick the forests of Kanha, Tadoba or Pench. These forests form one of the key habitats for some of the endemic animal species found in the country. These, in addition to the forests that directly or indirectly connect them, known as ‘Tiger Corridors’, form a seamless path for the movement of the famous Bengal tigers, which is extremely important for their conservation.

When tigers are allowed to move around, it reduces inbreeding and in turn provides a healthy and well-spread population of these big cats, who are fighting a constant battle for their survival. It is important to conserve the tiger as it sits at the top of the food chain in this part of the world and holds the key to survival for all the species below, which in turn maintains the wellbeing of the forests themselves.

This excursion primarily focuses on the three forests and your checklist will allow you to identify the commonly found flora and fauna here. This contains distinctive, clear pictures of the vegetation, birds, mammals and reptiles found in the jungles of central India in addition maps of the distribution of all the Wildlife Sanctuaries, National Parks and Tiger Reserves across the Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. It also shows the internal drivable routes and the entry and exit gates for the forests of Kanha, Tadoba and Pench, as allowed by the forest department.
